How it works

Dear user!

You are currently viewing Рixmoney.com – a microstock of digital images.

What is a microstock?

First of all, it would make sense to clarify what a «microstock» actually is. Microstock is a kind of photobank. It can sometimes be referred to as photo archive, or image library, but whatever you call it photobank contains a database of images and acts as an intermediary between the buyer and the author of pictures and illustrations. In other words, photobank takes upon itself the mission of looking for people willing to purchase pictures.

A characteristic feature of a microstock (as a kind of photobank) is that images are offered to potential buyers at very low prices, which allows achieving high volume of sales. It’s worth mentioning that our microstock accepts images of only the highest quality.

Our microstock is currently offering for sale images with royalty-free option. This particular license gives authors the right to legally sell the same picture or illustration as many times as they wish. The author still has the image rights after its sale, while the buyer merely receives the right to use the picture purchased. Therefore, for the minimal amount of money the buyer receives the right to use the image at his own discretion, staying within the boundaries of certain conditions and being limited to a specified number of copies.

Our users will soon have the opportunity of buying pictures with extended license option – extended royalty-free. By paying more for an image you will have the right to print a big number of copies or use it as a part of the commercial element of a product. Besides that, we are planning on adding to the catalogue of our microstock so-called editorials – news coverage images for non-commercial use that could be, for example, published in the printed media.

We have a lot of plans and ideas for further perfection of the microstock Pixmoney.com, and we are currently working on their implementation. We are open for cooperation and sincerely hope that very soon our site will become more than just a place for purchasing and selling pictures, but also some kind of a community that would attract photographers, designers, illustrators and keen people willing to communicate and share their experience. Join us!

Who needs it and what for?

You have a computer connected to the Internet, as well as a digital camera, and you just love taking pictures? You are able to notice things others miss and think your work is worth the attention of others? You can draw very well and your friends and family enjoy the illustrations? You would like to make more money? If you gave affirmative answers to these questions – you are a photostocker at heart.

The beauty of photostock lies in the fact that it provides equal opportunities for an amateur photographer, illustrator or designer, as well as a professional one. If you put a bit more effort and imagination into it, spend more time working on your image, photostock might as well become more than a hobby – it can become a source of stable income (that can also complement your main occupation). Besides, not too much is required – just to take a good picture with commercial potential and post it to the catalogue of our site. After that the only thing you have to do is enter your account and gladly observe the amount of euros your small chef-d’oeuvre has earned for you. Microstock sales statistics shows that just one picture that has been thoughtfully edited can bring more than 1,000 euros annually. Considering the fact that this image can stay in your portfolio for years it’s easy to imagine the profit you may be able to make.

On the other hand, photostock is very convenient not only for authors willing to sell their pictures at a profit, but also for designer studios, marketing companies, and mass media – people representing these industries need a lot of images to work with every day. Thousands of advertising brochures, pamphlets, even entire websites are created every single day, thousands of magazines and newspapers are published, and each of these products needs to be supplemented with high-quality or simply suitable pictures and illustrations. Obviously, the less money is spent on that - the better. Not every company can afford hiring a staff photographer and spending money on professional equipment. Besides, it becomes totally unnecessary since our microstock exists! Here you can find high-quality images dedicated to any topic for just a few euros.

How do I start working with microstock?

In order to gain access to the services of our site you need to register. To do that you need to go to the registration page, fill out all the fields of the registration form and click «Create account». Registration is complete. You will then receive a letter to your e-mail address with the activation link. To enter your account you need to follow the link, then enter your login and password and click «Enter».

For the convenience of the users navigation inside the account is divided into two parts: Sale and Purchase. Authors willing to sell their images will have to deal with the «Sale» section only.

Analyze your images and choose the ones that may be interesting for a potential buyer and are likely to be purchased. You must be the author of all the pictures you post. In other words, by uploading images to our microstock you guarantee that you are the actual author. Please notice that our microstock accepts pictures and illustrations of high-quality in JPEG format and vector images in EPS format. The size of the picture has to be no less than 4 megapixels (800x600 pixels minimum). The price of the image posted for sale entirely depends on its size, but don’t get too keen on editing your pictures in graphics editors, as artificial increase of size will affect its quality (for example, some image noise may appear), which will result in the picture being rejected by our photostock inspectors.

If you have already selected the image of suitable quality and size you can proceed to uploading it to the server. You can do it by choosing the bookmark «Sale» in menu «My uploads/Images». You can upload up to 10 images simultaneously. We have done our best to make the interface of our site as convenient as possible: for instance, it has image upload diagram with a progress-bar reflecting the speed of the upload, time remaining and other useful information. After your images are uploaded they are arranged according to their size, indicated in the price chart and are posted on the server. This procedure takes no more than 5 minutes.

In 5 minutes you can refresh the page and the images are ready for the attribution of keywords, by which potential buyers will be searching the images in the catalogue. This stage is just as important as actually taking a picture and editing it. Carefully selected and thought-out keywords are a guarantee of your pictures being found by someone looking for them.

The peculiarity of our microstock is that the user can attribute keywords to the image in both Russian and English. Microstock inspectors translate the keywords to the other language which significantly improves the chance of the image being found and sold, since its search in the catalogue will be performed in two languages. In the near future we are planning to launch three other language versions of the site – German, Spanish and Czech. We believe this will significantly expand the target market.

You can attribute keywords, category of the image and attach a model release (in case there is a person in your picture) on the same page, by clicking «Edit» in the table with the image. This page is characterized by user-friendly interface which allows describing the picture in 2-3 minutes.

Please note that a scanned and signed model release is most convenient to upload to the server (in JPEG , BMP or PDF format, in the menu «My uploads/Documents») before you get down to describing the picture. Once you have uploaded the model release you can attach it to your picture when editing.

You can save all the data entered on the same page («Save» button at the bottom of the page) and continue working with the image later without sending it to the inspector yet. In case you have finished working with the keywords you need to send the picture to the site inspectors for approval («Send for approval» button).

Done! The images have been uploaded. Now you just have to wait and hope that they will be approved by the inspectors of our site and will get into the catalogue where they will be available to the customers. If some image is for some reason rejected the inspector will be sure to specify the reason and you will be able to view the comment in your account.

Good luck!
